Beautiful place to stay highly recommended

It is in a great location, close to the ocean. The room is very outdated, but clean.

Comfortable hotel with oceanfront rooms and direct beach access. Good size room with a very comfortable bed and pillows, as well as a mini kitchen with plates/utensils/stove/fridge. The room is well-designed, with the bathroom area in the back of the room near the entrance and away from the beach view. There is a room with the shower and toilet, and then a separate area across from this room with the sink and closet area. This sink area does not have a door. It is designed such that the light from this area does not shine into the room - meaning the light on at night will not wake up a sleeping partner. There is also a small table and a small couch. The balcony has a gorgeous view of the ocean. The hotel is away from downtown (about a mile), but there is a restaurant next to the hotel. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, but we did not utilize. The main hotel building with the pool is a bit of a walk from the oceanfront rooms, but only long if rainy or cold. There are stairs down to the beach, but it is quite a way down - meaning a long way back up. We managed but this may be difficult for those with mobility issues. The beach is very beautiful with lots of rock formations off shore and tide pools. The building itself is a bit dated but has been well maintained. I definitely hope to return to this lovely hotel.

Staff were very friendly and the coffee at breakfast was good. The facility is very old, especially the bathroom, and upgrading is needed to feel comfortable. I had to move a bedside table a bit and the amount of dust that showed up scared me. The room had so many electrical outlets, which was great!

What a location!

It was a quick in and out. Arrived late and left early, but made accommodation for me so I was able to get in and out fast. I would to just hang out there as the open view of the Pacific Ocean was killer.

The room was old and could use new carpet/flooring. Beds were comfortable. I have stayed at many hotels over the past 40 years and this was the only place that didn't have a blow dryer! Breakfast needs more items, maybe some protein. The view is great --right across the road is the ocean. Employees were nice and efficient.

We had a wonderful time staying in one of their oceanfront rooms. The room was very clean, we appreciated breakfast and coffee in the mornings, and we had daily housekeeping and linens. The bed was very comfortable and the best part was having beach access right down the stairs. I would highly recommend this motel

Rainy night in Bandon

Great access to ocean. Room was very cramped. Basic amenities. Not even a microwave or refrigerator. It was the rustic room, wall staining wearing off walls. 70s plumbing fixtures. Room carries a woodsy/musty smell.

What a pleasant surprise! I wouldn’t wanna stay here without a view, but the staff was excellent. The local on-site restaurant was amazing. It was rather like having a private beach definitely would return.

Our little 1 bedroom x the street from Face Rock was so nice with watching the storm and the beautiful sunset. Nice to have breakfast included and the pool and hot tub was a bonus addition.

We went for the “Rustic” room (2 nights). My only complaint is the tv remote didn’t work for volume.

The only positive-pet friendly.

The room was not nearly as nice as the pictures indicated on the website. The bed was not comfortable, the paneling was old, scratched up, unfinished and UGLY. TV only had one channel, then stopped working altogether. Breakfast was tasteless bagels and dry cereal—2 choices.

Downstairs hotel guests were smoking and they left their bathroom fan on continuously. This was not only unpleasant to breath in their smoke, but the fan was loud and it was making our floor vibrate. We had to ask the front desk to contact them to turn it off..

We had an oceanview room and it was a beautiful view, The room was spacious and very comfortable.

I didn’t like the room we were in - 205. It isn’t updated and was not the nicest vibe. But this isn’t my first stay nor my last and next time will request a different room. I always enjoy my stay though and this time was no different:)

Would Stay Again

I stayed in the cheapo room and the experience was very pleasant. Check in was fantastic. Staff was knowledgeable about where to go for good seafood. They were very gracious and very kind. Very pleasant to deal with. Room was quiet and clean. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the carpet and put in wood flooring. One never knows what's hiding in the fibers of a hotel room carpet!

Love the Vern Brown rooms. If u physically can not walk down to the beach the private balcony on the rooms are the next best. You can sit watch the waves, people walking, kids dogs playing.

Great view outside not so much, inside

The location of the hotel was good. Our room had a very nice view of the Ocean but was in a separate building from the breakfast and the swimming pool so we had to walk over in the rain. The room we were in is in serious need of an update and and renovation. It was mostly worn wood and very tired furniture. The exterior of the hotel is much nicer than the room. Staff were pleasant and helpful and it was only a short drive to Old Bandon and some good restaurants and bars.

The room was clean, comfortable, and had a nice ocean view. I loved the location, it was absolutely perfect for the price!

Room was nice, beautiful view of the ocean from the room. Staff very friendly hot tub was nice and hot and didn’t smell too much like chlorine. Will definitely go back in summer.

This is one of my favorite places for a quick getaway. I like the ocean view rooms, you can sleep with the window open and hear the sound of the surf. I stay there 3 or 4 times a year. Bandon is a nice little town, and I feel very safe there (65-yo F traveling solo). The off-season is wonderful.

We had a pet friendly room which may have been part of it, but it obviously needed upgrading. Almost no light and the lamps were poorly located and dim. Staff was friendly and helpful but probably wouldn't go back unless upgrades were made. The restaurant right next door was great though!

The accommodation and service was fine - nothing special. But the location - just across the street from the ocean - is spectacular. Fairly easy access to the beach.

Initially I was in an ocean view room which was not what I anticipated. But the staff was able to clarify that what I was looking for was ocean front. For an additional fee they were able to accommodate my request and the room and the view were perfect!

Great stay in retro mom and pop room. Ours had a great view of the ocean and face rock. Plenty of parking, quiet and quaint.

We stayed in a room on the beach side of the property. It was wonderful!

The view and bed were the only redeeming features. The room was “rustic” when booked, but it was very dated and worn. A bit scary with features that looked original….meaning dating way back and a lot of wear and tear.

Phenomenal location and excellent family owned and operated facility. One of the most scenic spots in the US!

We loved the ocean front lodging, being able to have our dogs along, beautiful accommodations, friendly helpful staff. Availability of continental breakfast.

We were pleasantly surprised with the room they gave us. It was an astounding view. They upgraded me when they said I had a pet friendly room. I am very allergic to animal dander. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that the breakfast was a cold Continental breakfast.

The room we stayed was retro feeling and needed a little update but the view was excellent!! The staff were very friendly. The beach is a few min. away from the room and it was gorgeous.

The view of the bay was outstanding. But that was the only notable feature. Our room was clean, the bathroom area had patches of black mould and splintered wood on the corners of some panels. The bed was very narrow but comfortable, astonishingly there was only one chair in a room for two people so one of us had to sit on the floor. The grab and go breakfast was very very poor. We did not feel our stay at this property was good value for money.

Check in/out was a breeze. They worked with us when we decided to add an extra night's stay. Sunset views are amazing. Room was incredibly spacious! Would definitely stay there again.

It had a view from the room but no chairs with backs on them. Just bar stools which were hard to sit on. The room was clean but bathroom very outdated.

The location is beautiful and was the reason for our stay there, but the place is poorly maintained and the location was obviously understaffed. We had one of our room main lights flicker and go out on us, in the other room, the window was broken and the window sill was dirty. The white towels were clean but showed discoloration. At the restaurant the waiter had worked from breakfast until taking our dessert order at 8 PM and had brought in someone to help who was not properly trained to help with the workload—it took over forty-five minutes to get our dessert-only order in and served. During the night, people were trying to get into one of the rooms and kept yelling and beating on the door. Very poor experience.

Room was outdated and had a musty smell. Carpets need a good cleaning. Staff was friendly.

The beach near the hotel is very nice. But the beach access is a little hard to find.

The hotel is located directly across from the ocean and a walk to the beach. However, our room only had a sliding glass door for entry with no screen. The room was dark, musty and warm with stale air. The was no air conditioning. There are other rooms on the property with windows. I chose a poor option.

I have stayed at the Sunset before - they provide reliable lodging at a fair price. Lots of room for my dog to take care of business. We love coming to Bandon!

Location is great and view is superb. Quite area. Room was quaint with the rustic cabin look. HOWEVER, room was dirty. We stayed in a pet friendly room, so we our expectations weren’t high. Unfortunately the carpet had crumbs and underneath the bed was atrocious. Bathtub was not wiped down, so we didn’t shower that night. Room ventilation is minimal. 2 small vents and that’s it. No screen on the sliding door so ventilation hardly exists…. But it doesn’t have a gorgeous view.

Not as expected

Would highly recommend a stay here if visiting Bandon. The hotel is an excellent position on the cliff overlooking the state park. There is also a very good restaurant next door, Lord Bennett’s.

Make sure you get a room in the building on the beach. They are amazing! The room we were first placed in in the building near the office was a dump and unacceptable.

This is a beautiful setting, walking distance to a great beach. Quiet residential neighborhood that we liked. Facilities were great, pool, hot tub and small breakfast. Staff was wonderful. Highly recommend. Hotel offered much information about surrounding area that helped us

The view from our room was amazing. We were right on the beach in front of the Face Rock. Gorgeous!

Why make a reservation?

Reservation was made for a King room and when I got to the room it was occupied. Not cool for either party. Replaced with a two queen room. ☹️

Location, location, location! I stayed overnight on a road trip along the coast. The views and beach were beautiful, low key, and sparsely populated. I hope that doesn’t change! The accommodations were rustic, to be sure. I slept well and everything worked, but it was definitely on the shabby side - as in, exactly as it was in the mid-to late 1970s, but with 2024 prices.

Lovely beach front night

Check in was a little rough, not as friendly as it had been in the past. Maybe the staff was having a bad day.

Beautiful setting. Very clean. Had problem with the nobs on the shower for hot/cold.

Don't stay in the rustic rooms. They're quite old and the ceiling is falling down. Overall, it's a nice property, but they should just renovate the older rooms.

Small room, rough and no place to sit with a back. Soft beds and a slow draining shower tub. No air conditioning.
